Yes.
Herbal medicine is generally very safe. Herbalists use constituents from the entire plant, rather than isolated extracts, which helps bring about gentle, yet effective support. The synergy of the constituents in the plant often work together to bring balance without any harsh effects.
Herbalists are also trained to understand any drug-herb interactions and contraindications for each plant along with any pharmaceutical medications you may be taking. It is important to follow dosage instructions on your medications as well as any herbal recommendations you might receive.
-
This depends on your health concerns, how long you've been experiencing symptoms, and your response to herbal care.
Some individuals seek support for a specific concern over a shorter period, while others with ongoing or complex health conditions may benefit from working together over several months.
Follow-up appointments are generally recommended every 4–6 weeks to review your progress, assess changes, and adjust your herbal care plan as needed.
My goal is to help you make meaningful progress while regularly evaluating what is working and whether changes are needed.

A clinical herbalist applies knowledge of medicinal plants, human physiology, and traditional herbal assessment to develop botanical recommendations for a person's health concerns.
Clinical assessment may involve reviewing medical history, symptoms, medications, laboratory results, and physical observations such as the tongue, skin, and other signs of health or imbalance.
This information helps identify patterns, consider possible contributing factors, and guide the selection of herbs based on their therapeutic actions, chemistry, and suitability for the individual.
Clinical herbalists also consider formulation, dosage, potential interactions, and how a person's response to herbal care changes over time.
-
In many cases, herbal preparations can be used alongside prescription medications, but potential interactions and contraindications need to be considered.
Some herbs can influence how medications are absorbed, metabolized, or eliminated, while others may increase or reduce their effects.
As part of my assessment, I review your current medications, supplements, and relevant health history before making herbal recommendations. Where necessary, I may recommend additional precautions or consultation with your pharmacist or healthcare provider.
It's important to disclose all medications and supplements you're taking, including over-the-counter products.

No. Herbal Roots offers a Dispensary Access Consultation for individuals seeking herbal preparations without requiring a comprehensive consultation.
This service is available to individuals referred by another healthcare practitioner, as well as those seeking access to the dispensary directly.
A client–practitioner relationship must be established before accessing practitioner-dispensed herbal preparations. This involves a brief consultation to review your health history, medications, supplements, and relevant safety considerations.
An annual Dispensary Access Consultation is required to maintain this relationship and ensure your health information remains current. Between annual reviews, repeat formulations may be available without another appointment, provided your health circumstances and formulation needs remain unchanged.
Herbal preparations are purchased separately.

Yes. Clinical herbal care can be particularly valuable when health concerns are ongoing, involve multiple body systems, or haven't responded as expected to previous approaches.
Chronic health concerns rarely exist in isolation. For example, metabolic dysfunction may be associated with hormonal imbalances, chronic inflammation, digestive disturbances, and changes in energy or sleep.
Rather than addressing each symptom separately, clinical herbalism considers how these systems interact and what underlying patterns or contributing factors may be influencing your health.
Botanical formulations, nutritional guidance, and lifestyle recommendations can be used to support physiological function and help address identified imbalances. The approach and expected outcomes depend on the nature of your concerns, your health history, and your response to care.
-
The best starting point depends on your health concerns and the level of support you're looking for.
Comprehensive Consultation: Recommended for ongoing, chronic, or complex health concerns, particularly when several body systems may be involved. This includes a detailed assessment, written care plan, and follow-up appointment.
Focused Consultation: Designed for specific concerns related to stress and sleep, digestive comfort, energy and vitality, or stress and tension. This appointment includes a custom 100 mL herbal formulation or ear seed application.
Dispensary Access Consultation: For individuals seeking access to herbal preparations without a comprehensive assessment. This establishes the required client–practitioner relationship and includes a review of relevant health information and safety considerations.
If you're unsure which appointment is appropriate, a complimentary 15-minute discovery call is available to discuss your needs and help you choose.
-
Herbal preparations are generally purchased separately from consultation fees, with the exception of the Focused Consultation.
Comprehensive Consultations include an in-depth assessment, written care plan, and a two-week follow-up appointment. Any recommended herbal formulations or supplements are purchased separately.
Focused Consultations include either a custom 100 mL herbal formulation or an ear seed application as part of the appointment fee.
Dispensary Access Consultations provide access to practitioner-dispensed herbal preparations following the establishment of a client–practitioner relationship. Herbal preparations are purchased separately.
The type and amount of herbal support recommended will depend on your individual needs. Costs are discussed before preparations are dispensed.

Online consultations follow the same clinical assessment process as in-person appointments, including a detailed review of your health history, current concerns, medications, supplements, and relevant laboratory results.
Traditional assessment methods, including tongue observation, may also be incorporated through photographs or video. Pulse assessment is available during in-person appointments.
Following your consultation, you'll receive a written care plan outlining recommended herbal formulations, nutritional considerations, and lifestyle strategies, as appropriate.
Herbal preparations can be arranged for clients who are unable to visit the dispensary in person, subject to shipping availability.

Following your initial consultation, I review the information gathered during your assessment and develop a care plan based on your health concerns and clinical findings.
Your written care plan is generally provided within one week and may include custom herbal formulations, nutritional recommendations, lifestyle considerations, and other supportive strategies.
Comprehensive Consultations include a follow-up phone call approximately two weeks after receiving your care plan. This provides an opportunity to discuss your recommendations, address questions, and review your initial response.
Additional follow-up appointments are generally recommended every 4–6 weeks, depending on your concerns and progress. These appointments allow us to evaluate changes, assess how you're responding to your herbal preparations, and make adjustments when needed.
Ongoing care is collaborative, with recommendations reviewed and adapted as your health needs change.
